Our Story

Like many good things, Coastland began with a simple question. In 2018, driven by a desire to help students find their paths in life, we asked, “What if we created a program, makerspace, and retail store that taught students how to work and run their own businesses?”

In asking this question, the seeds of Coastland were planted and began to grow. We set to work developing the Pathways program, designed to teach students the skills needed to operate a business. Our journey started in Carpinteria, CA, where we opened a retail store selling products made by students in the Pathways program, allowing them to earn proceeds from their sales. We have since closed our Carpinteria location and moved our programs to San Clemente to better serve students there.

We hope you will consider supporting us by purchasing a few quality goods handmade by our student entrepreneurs.

At Coastland, we are:

LOCAL

Every product we sell is made locally in San Clemente. We also try our best to source our raw materials locally whenever possible.

HAND MADE

Everything in Coastland is created or finished using the best craftsmanship we can. We never buy anything wholesale only to mark it up and resell it. Student hands touch everything we sell.

BY/FOR STUDENTS

Students are the heartbeat of Coastland. Every product is made by and for them with the proceeds of the sales going back to our students in the form of scholarship grants.
